چکیده

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a simplified representation the fire load in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) represent effect large-scale travelling and highlight relevance such an approach whilst coupling CFD results with finite element method (FEM) evaluate related steel temperatures, comparing numerical outcomes experimental measurements. Design/methodology/approach This presents setup simulations (FDS software), its corresponding assumptions calibration via two natural tests focusing on gas temperatures measured central column. For latter, methods are presented: one based EN 1993-1-2 another linking FEM (SAFIR ® software). Findings suggests that can allow for acceptable both terms spread temperatures. inevitable limitations inherent simplifications made during also discussed. Regarding lead quite similar results, but ones obtained CFD–FEM closer those measured. Originality/value work has revealed proposed appears be appropriate temperature structural elements within reasonable limits time, making it potentially desirable practical applications. first comparisons FDS–SAFIR highlighting promising outcomes.

Free vibration analysis of steel framed structures

This study based on free vibration analysis and study the behavior of framed structure under different frequency of vibration using ANSYS software and shaking table. A small scale uni-axial shaking table was prepared in laboratory, which can produce lower to moderate vibration, regarding frequency and velocity. Moment resisting framed structures constructed with connecting beam and column eleme...

Parallel FEM Software for CFD Problems

The present paper describes the development and the performance of parallel FEM software for solving various CFD problems. Domain decomposition strategy and parallel iterative GMRES solver have been adapted to the universal space-time FEM code FEMTOOL, which allows implementation of any partial differential equation with minor expenses. The developed data structures, the static load balancing a...

Numerical Investigations on the Effect of Pulsating Pressure on Improvement of Formability in Hydroforming of Bent Tube by FEM

In this paper, hydroforming process of bent tubes in T-shaped die is studied for pulsating and linear pressure paths by the finite element method. Forming Limit Diagrams (FLDs) and thickness distribution curves are used to investigate the effect of pulsating pressure on hydroforming process. In addition, the obtained numerical results are compared with experimental results of hydroforming of st...

Experiments and 3d Fem Simulations of Milling on a 304l Stainless Steel

Milling is among machining processes one of the most frequently used, but although milling processes operations are very used in mechanical engineering industries and as a lot of experimental results are available, some essential physical phenomena present difficulties of understanding. Indeed milling is a very complex process with physical interactions between shearing, compression, ploughing,...

CFD with adaptive FEM on massively parallel systems

An explicit nite element scheme based on a two step Taylor Galerkin algorithm allows the solution of the Euler and Navier Stokes equations for a wide variety of ow problems To obtain useful results for realistic problems one has to use grids with an extremely high density to obtain a good resolution of the interesting parts of a given ow Since these details are often limited to small regions of...
